Slow starts on offense leave CHS boys unable to overcome large deficits

With a whole new starting five this season, the Carbon High boys are having to adjust to new players in new roles.

Gone are the five seniors who filled the starting rotation and were counted upon to handle the brunt of the scoring, rebounding and maybe most importantly provide the leadership and stability the team utilized throughout the season.

The Dinos struggled in their season opener falling to 4A's Maple Mountain 88-36 on the road on Nov. 26. The Dinos fared no better during their season opener on Nov. 27 against Snow Canyon as a slow start on offense put the team in a large deficit ending in a 58-42 loss.

In each game, the Dinos suffered from scoreless spells including during the second half against Maple Mountain and in the first half against Snow Canyon.

Cole Fossat led the Dinos against Maple Mountain with 12 points and Garrett Blanc had a team-high 15 points against Snow Canyon.

The Dinos, 0-2 overall, will travel to Union on Tuesday, Dec. 4 for a game before heading to a three-day tournament for the Ben Lomond Pepsi Classic from Dec. 5-7.
