EAST CARBON - Harold "Hap" LeRoy Summers passed away Nov. 27, 2013 at his home in East Carbon at the age of 102.
He was born July 24, 1911 in the Ragged Mountains of Colorado to George and Hazel Summers. In 1929, Hap moved to Columbia where he began working in the coal mines. Married Bell Rose Jewkes, she preceded him in death.
Hap was a retired member of the United Mine Workers of America District # 22 where he received his 80 year pin. He was an excellent craftsman and handyman who loved to tinker in his yard.
Survived by his son, Danny Summers, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are welcome to share memories of "Hap" at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
