PUBLIC NOTICE
ENVIRONMENTAL ACTION
27215 EAST HIGHWAY 6
COLTON, UTAH

Gary Nelson, with approval from the Utah Department of Environmental
Quality (UDEQ), Division of Environmental Response and Remediation
(DERR), is planning to remediate petroleum-impacted soil at the
Hilltop Country Service facility at 27215 East Highway 6, Colton,
Utah. The environmental consultant for this project is Applied
Geotechnical Engineering Consultants (AGEC).

Site Description

The facility (site) is located at 27215 East Highway 6, Colton, Utah.
A release of petroleum fuel (gasoline and/or diesel) was documented
during a subsurface investigation during the closure activities of the
tanks and dispensers in August 2012. Subsequent investigations of the
release confirmed the presence of petroleum hydrocarbon contamination
remaining in the soil at the site. Groundwater was not encountered
during the excavation work and is anticipated to be approximately 130
feet below the ground surface and not impacted by the fuel release.

Cleanup Measures

In order to protect human health and the environment the property
owner representative, Gary Nelson, has agreed to the following
corrective action measures:

Contaminated soil above the Utah Initial Screening Levels will be
removed from the vicinity of the dispenser island and tanks and will
be placed on site behind (north) the vacant Hilltop Country Service
building in a stockpile in a shallow, level, bermed area. The bermed
area will be approximately 30 by 30 feet and will be lined with 10-mil
plastic sheeting. The impacted soil will be aerated with the approval
of the Utah County Health Department and the Utah Division of Air
Quality until the contaminate levels have reached the proposed cleanup
levels.

Schedule

Soil removal activities are expected to begin about the first week of
April 2014 and last for less than one week.

For More Information

A copy of the Corrective Action Plan is available for review at the
Utah Department of Environmental Quality office located at 195 North
1950 West, Salt Lake City, Utah during the month of December 2013
between the hours of 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Any comments regarding the
proposed plan are due by December 31, 2013.

Should anyone have questions or comments about the proposed course of
action, please contact Gary Nelson, Project Manager, Hilltop Country
Service at (801) 921-0266, or Ms. Melissa Turchi, Project Manager,
Utah DERR (801) 536-0078.
