US Forest Service Christmas tree permits on sale

Christmas tree permits are on sale at the Supervisor's Office of the Manti-La Sal National Forest for $10 each. The office, located at 599 W. Price River Drive, Price, is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For customer convenience, permits will also be sold at Sutherland Lumber, 406 S. Hwy 55, Price. The cost for permits is the same regardless of where they are purchased.

There is a limit of three permits per person. To buy a permit for a tree taller than 8 feet, the purchaser must pay 50 cents per additional foot.

Purchasers will need to provide a check or exact change. Forest Service Offices are not equipped to accept debit or credit cards or make change. There are no refunds.

In addition, the Forest will be selling tree permits through the mail. Customers should send a request for the permit, a self-addressed envelope, provide their name, mailing address, phone number and a check for $10/per permit in an envelope marked "Attention: Christmas tree Sales." Checks should be made payable to: USDA Forest Service. Orders can be sent to the Manti-La Sal National Forest at the Supervisor's Office, 599 W. Price River Drive, Price, UT 84501 or Ferron/Price District Office, P.O. Box 310, Ferron, UT 84523.
