9 injured in US 6 collision
A two-car collision on US 6 east of Wellington sent nine people to the hospital Saturday evening, closing the road in both directions for more than two hours.
According to Utah Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Lawrence Hopper, a 1996 Chevrolet truck, traveling westbound on Highway 6, had one of its tires separate near mile marker 258.
The truck began to lose control, veering back and forth before moving into the eastbound lane where it was T-boned by an oncoming 2013 Nissan Pathfinder around 5 p.m, according to Hopper.
The UHP reported that all nine victims were transported to Castleview Hospital.
The driver of the Chevy truck, identified as Lorana Alverado, 37, and the four juvenile passengers: Ismarelda Lares, 11; Magdelina Lares, 8;
Jose Lares, 6, and Nicholas Lares, 3; were all from Price.
Every occupant of the vehicle was listed in critical condition following the collision.
Additionally, the Pathfinder's occupants, Jill Adair, 45; Hank Adair, 43; Brandon Adair, 17; and Lauryn Adair, 13, all of New Mexico, were also transported in critical condition.
Hopper said weather did not play a factor in the crash and no citations have been issued at this point. The investigation is ongoing, he said.
