Golden Eagles soar to 8-0 start
No matter the competition, the Golden Eagles know the road to being considered an elite team requires the team to work hard each and every game.
Another weekend of games gave the Golden Eagles two more wins after they defeated the Salt Lake All-Stars on Friday and Saturday at the BDAC to stay unbeaten to start the season.
Eastern defeated the SL All-Stars 111-86 on Friday evening and completed the sweep with a 109-73 win on Saturday afternoon.
In Friday's win, the Golden Eagles and the All-Stars battled through much of the first half before Eastern was able to pull away for a 60-39 halftime lead.
In the second half, Eastern kept up the pressure and never let the lead drop below 18 points.
Kendahl Amerson led Eastern with 20 points as five players finished in double figures. Todd Helgesen had a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
In Saturday's win, the two teams kept things close before Eastern finished the first half with an 18-3 run to take a 57-30 lead into the half.
Amerson led the team with 28 points. Helgesen (15 points, 14 rebounds) and Alioune Tew (10 points, 10 rebounds) each had double-doubles for the Golden Eagles.
The Golden Eagles (8-0) will travel to Rock Springs, Wyo., for games on Friday and Saturday against Western Wyoming Community College.
