HELPER - Lillian Ann Kvaternick Martinez, age 78, passed away unexpectedly Nov. 23, 2013 at Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo.
She was born Jan. 25, 1935 in Crested Butte, Colo., to John and Rose Oberster Kvaternick.
Married Abel Martinez, Jr., Aug. 29, 1952 in Raton, N.M.; he passed away Aug. 15, 2005.
Lilly was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. She was a longtime resident of Helper who worked at the Carbon Hospital and the County Nursing Home for over 15 years. She was an avid sports enthusiast who loved bowling, playing softball and watching her children and grandchildren in their sporting events. Some of her fondest memories were those while playing for Mitchell's Mummies and Chuck's Pharmacy.
Lilly loved to dance and if there was a Polka she was there. She loved the holidays, especially decorating for Christmas. Lilly lived a life of service and her compassionate ways will always be remembered.
Survived by two sons and two daughters, Mike (Anna) Martinez, Spring Glen, Rose (Mark) Liddiard, Grand Junction, Colo., Mark (Kelly) Martinez, Las Vegas, Nev., Annette (Jeff) Stowe, Spring Glen; three sisters, Roselyn Dame, Dove Creek, Colo., Mary Bell Bertiglio, Springville, Katherine Kistner, Holiday, Fla.; seven grandchildren, Eric, Adam, Nick, Nathan, Stephen, Jennee, and Katee; four great-grandchildren; her beloved cat and sweetheart Butterscott.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Linda Martinez; granddaughter, Lacey Liddiard; brother, Andrew Kvaternick; and sisters, Gloria Kricken, Opal Simonetti and Gladys Beaty.
Funeral Mass, Saturday, Nov. 30, 2013, 10 a.m., St. Anthony Catholic Church in Helper. Family will receive friends at Mitchell Funeral Home (233 East Main Street) in Price Friday evening from 7 - 8 p.m. and Saturday morning from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. Committal service, Mt.
