Angie Fercik Potochnick passed away Nov. 17, 2013 to be reunited in heaven with her loving husband and son.
Angie was born May 16, 1923 in Standardville, the second of three children of John and Jennie Jarc Fercik. Angie married John Potochnick on April 3, 1946. They were blessed with two beautiful children Dick and Irene. John and Angie were married for 51 years before John passed away. Angie helped care for him through many illnesses.
Angie graduated as a registered nurse from Holy Cross Hospital School of Nursing in Salt Lake City in 1945. She worked at hospitals in Standardville, Dragerton (East Carbon), and Price. She was chosen as employee of the month at Castleview Hospital. She retired in 1988. After retirement, she volunteered as a surgical nurse for the Carbon County Human Society. Angie had a love for animals, her cat Snowball being the favorite who was her loyal companion for twenty two years.
Angie was proud of her Slovenian heritage and belonged to the Slovenian National Benefit Society, Helper Lodge. She made great poteca. Angie enjoyed the Slovenian Day picnics and wore her "Slovenians are Nice People" shirt with pride.
Angie enjoyed traveling with her family. She got to experience many parts of the world with Lowell and Irene. One of her favorite trips was visiting and reconnecting with family in Slovenia. She also enjoyed many road trips with her grandkids. Grandma never let her age slow her down and was always up for shopping and eating out at the Olive Garden. Angie looked forward to lunches with her retired Carbon County nursing friends and her special weekly outings with her loving niece Jo Ellen.
Angie was preceded in death by her husband John, son Dick, son-in-law Lowell Tolman and sister Jennie Ashworth. Survived by daughter Irene Potochnick Tolman, daughter-in-law Robin Luke Potochnick, grand-daughters Marquette Tolman Smith( Jeff Smith), Misty Potochnick (Natalie Hawks) Michelle Potochnick Fazio (Peter Fazio) Stephanie Potochnick Rodriguez (Wadi Rodriguez) and great grandchildren Rodger, Melissa, Lincoln, Korbin, Davis, Sada, Mason, Matthew and brother John Fercik.
Funeral Mass, Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, 10 a.m., Notre Dame de Lourdes Catholic Church, 210 North Carbon Avenue, Price. Vigil service, Friday evening 6 p.m. Mitchell Funeral Home, 233 East Main Street, Price. Family will receive friends at Mitchell Funeral Home Friday and Saturday one hour prior to services. Committal, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories of Angie online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
