NOTICE OF BOARD VACANCIES
November 15, 2013

	In the interest of giving more citizens the opportunity to serve in
the community, the Carbon County Board of Commissioners would like to
give notice of volunteer service opportunities with various County
Boards or Committees.  In the future information will be available on
Carbon County's website at www.carbon.utah.gov.  Following is a list
of vacancies.  Applications are available from the Commission
Secretary or by calling 435-636-3226.  Submit all applications to:
Sandra Lehman, Carbon County Commission, 120 East Main Street, Price,
Utah 84501 or Sandy.lehman@carbon.utah.gov.  Deadline: November 25,
2013.  All applicants must be willing to regularly attend meetings and
actively participate in the committee or board activities.  Please do
not apply if you have been convicted of a felony. 

•CARBON COUNTY TOURISM TAX ADVISORY BOARD
Number of Vacancies: Two
Terms: Two year terms.

	This Board meets every other month, more if necessary.  The focus is
on the promotion of tourism and the development of tourism related
facilities within Carbon County.  Board members are responsible for
making recommendations to the Carbon County Commissioners for the
expenditure of the restaurant sales tax and transient room tax
collected in Carbon County. The Board must be composed of members
living within Carbon County, and a majority of the members must be
current employees of entities operating restaurants or hotel/lodging
businesses within Carbon County.  The balance of the board members
must be employees of recreational facilities, convention facilities,
museums, cultural attractions, or other tourism-related industries
located within Carbon County. 

•CARBON COUNTY BOARD OF ADJUSTMENTS
Number of Vacancies: Four = 2 Regular Members; 2 Alternate Members
Terms: Five year terms.

	This Board meets on an as-needed basis, usually one to three times
per year.  Meetings are to consider appeals from zoning decisions,
special exceptions to the terms of the Development Code, and variances
to land use planning issues.

•CARBON COUNTY CAREER SERVICE COUNCIL
Number of Vacancies: Four B Two Regular; Two Alternates
Terms:	Regular: Three year term.
Alternates: One year terms.

	This five-member bipartisan board, mandated by state law, consists of
three regular members and two alternate members.  Meetings are held on
an as-needed basis to hear appeals not resolved at lower levels in
cases of career service county employees that have been suspended,
transferred, demoted, or dismissed as well as in cases of other
grievances not resolved by the grievance process at the county and/or
departmental level.

•SCOFIELD RESERVOIR SPECIAL SERVICE DISTRICT
Number of Vacancies: One - Representing Singleton Area
Terms: Four year term.

	This six member board meets quarterly and is responsible for the
operation of the sewer systems in the subdivisions/campsites
surrounding the reservoir.

•CARBON COUNTY WEED BOARD
Number of Vacancies: Three
Terms: Four year terms.

	The Utah Noxious Weed Act provides that each county have a weed
control board that is responsible for the control of noxious weeds and
whose members are appointed by the county legislative body consisting
of not less than three nor more than five members of whom shall be
farmers or ranchers whose primary income is derived from the
production of agriculture.

•CARBON COUNTY PLANNING COMMISSION
Number of Vacancies: Two
Terms: Four year terms.

	This is a seven member board that is appointed by the Board of
Commissioners and meets monthly to recommend zoning ordinances and
maps, subdivision regulations, amendments to same, requests for
conditional use permits, etc. to the County Commission.
