HELPER - Our loving mother, grandmother and friend, Emma "Granny" Gonzales Espinoza, age 94, passed away Nov. 10, 2013 at Pinnacle Nursing Center in Price while surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Dec. 23, 1918 in Denver, Colo., to Jose Fermin and Eva Casias Gonzales.
Married John O. Espinoza Dec. 4, 1937 in Raton, N.M.
Emma was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church. She enjoyed the sewing circle and ceramics. Emma loved trips to Wal-Mart and played bingo until her last days. Emma loved her family more than anything in this world. She is loved by many and will be missed by all who knew her.
Survived by her children, Eva (Bernell) Martinez, Helper, Johnnie (Erlinda) Espinoza, Price; her "little girl" Erika Sarich, who she raised as her own; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; brother Filbert (Lupie) Gonzales.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; grandson, Joey John Sanchez; sisters, Esther Ortiz, Jody Hall, Irene Montoya.
Funeral Mass, Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, 10 a.m. St. Anthony Catholic Church, Helper. Evening service, Thursday, 7 p.m. Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will receive friends Thursday and Friday one hour prior to service at Mitchell's. Committal, Mt. View Cemetery, Helper.
