Carbon High X-Country teams set for state after strong showing at Region 12 meet

With a fourth place finish by both the boys and the girls teams at the Region 12 meet in Payson, a trip to state meet awaits.

Both the boys and girls took fourth and will run at state next Wednesday at Sugar House Park. Weather was perfect a little chilly for spectators but perfect running weather. Garrett Marsing won the boys race with a time of 15:46 with the closest runner 38 seconds back. Trey Richardson was 13th setting a new personal best of 17:35 for 3 miles. Freshman Drew Jones ran a solid third for us all season, Andrew Gagnon ran a new personal best breaking 19:00 as well as J.W. Broadbear they were 4th and 5th for carbon. The Quinton brothers, Dallin and Kyle, were 6th and 7th for the boys.

Emily Broadbear took eighth overall medaling as a freshman at region and helping field a full team for the girls. She ran a new personal best of 19:56. Giovanna Chiara was 11th and 2nd for Carbon also running a new personal best of 20:44. Freshman Zaharah Rossi was third and 14th overall, freshman Sarah Ohlwiler was 21st and 4th for the team also running a new personal best on this course by over two minutes.Abbi Powell and Ambrie Reed wrapped up the girls 4th place finish. Girls were 9 points from third and 15 from second.
