Castle Heights Elementary School Teacher Steve Lasslo sets the pace for students Wednesday morning as they walked from Dino Mine Park in northeast Price to their school on Homestead Avenue. They were all taking part in the Walk to School Day, which now involves 40 countries and all 50 of the United States. The event was originally organized by the Partnership for a Walkable America in 1997 to emphasize the benefits of walkable communities. It has grown international in scope as a means of encouraging healthy habits in young people and urging cities incorporate safe, accessible walking paths in their planning.
