The East Carbon and Sunnyside City Councils will hold a joint public hearing tonight at 6:30 p.m. at Bruin Point Elementary to discuss in detail the proposed consolidation of the cities.

During the joint public session, residents will be allowed to voice their opinion on the merger. City officials will also use the gathering as an opportunity to explain the associated plan of consolidation.

The citizens of both towns will have the final word on consolidation as the item has been placed on the November ballot. A majority of residents from each city must vote in favor of joining the towns in order for the proposition to move forward.
