Carbon High offense looking to break through against Morgan
After facing a tough road through the first five games on the schedule, things are about to get even harder for the Carbon High football team as they hit the road to take on Morgan High on Friday night at 7 p.m.
Morgan, one of 3A's top teams, will provide another difficult test for the Dinos as they head into the second half of their 2013 schedule.
If the Dinos are looking to post a better performance against Morgan High, they must first start with the offense.
The Dinos have scored 21 total points this season, with 7 against Grand in the season opener and 14 against American Leadership Academy on Aug. 30. Since then, the Dinos have been shut out over the course of their last three games against teams such as Duchesne, North Sanpete and Grantsville.
CHS head coach Jeff Blanc said the team has had to battle through a number of injuries to players all over the roster.
"Things will happen and injuries will occur, but you've just got to deal with it," said Blanc.
Blanc said the team's offensive line hasn't been able to control the line of scrimmage on a consistent basis. With a lot of returning experience that returned this season, Blanc is hoping that offensive line will be able to help get the running game going.
"We've faced some D-lines that have been stronger and have more depth than us," Blanc explained. "We just have to focus on working hard and trying to be more consistent on every play."
Carbon High, 0-5 overall and 0-1 in Region 12 play, will play on the road for two weeks, against Morgan on Friday and against Judge Memorial on Oct. 4.
The team will return home to host Union on Homecoming night on Thursday, Oct. 10.
