Members of the United Methodist women sponsored the Lenten lunches assisted by the Ministerial Alliance. Last week, the group donated all the offerings to the Golden Rule Mission in Helper.

The proceeds from the luncheons have been donated to charities in the past that support women and children and the Golden Rule Mission was also the recipient last year where the money was used to purchase a new refrigerator for their soup kitchen.

Pictured to the left are Pat Scherschel and Emma Kuykendall with the United Methodist Women, Bill Rountree, mission board member; Rae McCoy, vista volunteer with the mission, Lynda Varner, housing authority and board member with the mission as well as Rev. Nancy Boswell, minister with the United Methodist Church present a check for $900 to the Helper facility.
