A Helper woman was sexually assaulted Monday by a man she said was posing as a construction worker. Police Chief Trent Anderson said the victim described the assailant as wearing a green construction worker's vest and a white hard hat.

The chief reported that she said the man was Hispanic, five feet five inches to five feet seven inches tall, with a "chunky" build, brown eyes and black hair. He is believed to be 30 to 40 years old. The victim herself augmented the information about her attacker on her Facebook page. She added that he was wearing a white T-shirt, faded jeans and a gold cross with no Jesus on it on a short chain around his neck. His hair came down just to his collar.

The man gained entry to the victim's home by knocking on the door and asking a construction-related question. He then pulled a knife on her and assaulted her.

The attack occurred in the neighborhood of Canyon and Duchesne streets. This is an area of intense construction activity, part of the city's rebuilding of its water, sewer and storm drain systems.

Chief Anderson said that people having information about the case, or who notice anything suspicious, should contact the police department at (435) 472-3719.

The woman wrote that she was posting on Facebook to warn people about whom they let into their homes. "Ladies please be very careful I don't want this to happen to anyone else," she wrote.
