With just four games left on the schedule this season, the Pinnacle High School baseball team is preparing for the last run in trying to qualify for the 1A State Tournament.

The Panthers started that quest with a 14-4 victory over the visiting Telos on Monday afternoon. It was the Panthers' second straight win over Telos, which also included a 20-6 win on Sept. 9.

PHS head coach Cam Gardner said the Panthers got contributions from a number of players, including many who came off the bench to help out the team.

"Everyone was able to get in there and play, so that's always a good sign for us as a team," said Gardner.

Levi Rutherford, Damon Neath, Isaiah Martinez and Austin Vigil were among some of the Panthers who had key hits and made key plays in the game, Gardner said.

Over the final two weeks of the regular season, the Panthers (7-8 overall, 1-1 Region 17) will be able to stay at home hosting Tabiona for a doubleheader on Sept. 27 starting at 2 p.m. at the USU Eastern Baseball Field. The Panthers will finish the season hosting Green River on Oct. 1 for a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
