Helper Fire Chief Mike Zamantakis shows one of the specially-designed public safety jackets his department received from counterparts in Salt Lake City. The jackets were a gift from the SLC Fire Department's Union Local 1645. The union was looking for a worthy cause for a donation, and Nick Lopez, a Salt Lake fireman and son of Mario and Shirley (Feichko) Lopez, suggested the Helper department. Before joining the fire department, Nick Lopez was a highly-decorated Marine who served in Desert Storm and Desert Shield operations.
