BICKNELL - Elbert Jed "Bert" McDonald, age 80, died Aug. 17, 2013 at his home in Bicknell, after a valiant battle with cancer.
He was born March 14, 1933 in Rains, Carbon County, a son of Jed and Hannah Grace Jenkins. He graduated from Carbon County High School and attended the Coyne Electrical School in Chicago, Ill. He served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Army.
Bert married Iris Brinkerhoff Oct. 28, 1960 in Price.
Bert is survived by his wife of Bicknell; children: Margaret and Van Bennett, Bethel, Vermont; Frances and Mike Van Duren, Riverton; Gordon and Kriston McDonald, Copperton; four grandsons: Broch and Alex Van Duren; Colton and Duston McDonald; brothers and sister: Brian and Eleanor McDonald, Albuquerque, N.M.; Shirley Mickey, Ogden; Mark and Georgia McDonald, Lander, Wyo; Glen and Ann McDonald, Cody, Wyo; a sister-in-law: Marva McDonald, Kansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jed and Hannah McDonald, and a brother, Doug McDonald.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013 at 1 p.m. in the Thurber LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. prior to the services.
Burial with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Bicknell Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
