Wellington fire and Carbon County ambulance personnel assist at the scene of last Friday's two-vehicle traffic accident on U.S. Highway 6. The collision occurred at approximately 8:15 a.m. on April 25 in east Wellington. Ambulance crews transported a Price motorist to the hospital with head injures.

An accident on U.S. Highway 6 in east Wellington sent a local man to the hospital last Friday and resulted in minor injuries to two Tremonton residents.

Willard. H. Austin, 41 of Price, was driving westbound in a 1997 Nissan pickup April 25 when an eastbound 1975 Bronco reportedly attempted to turn left into a service station at about 8:15 a.m.

The Bronco, driven by Darin R. Ewer of Tremonton, collided with Austin's vehicle, forcing the Nissan off the road.

Incident reports indicate the Bronco was thrown across the eastbound lanes and off the roadway.

A passenger in the Ewer vehicle, Stephanie Ewer, 31 of Tremonton, also received injuries. No passengers were traveling in the Austin at the time of the accident.

According to Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Mark Cooper, both occupants of the Bronco were wearing seat restraints, while Austin was not. The airbag in the Nissan deployed when the collision occurred.

The two severely damaged vehicles had to be towed from the scene after the traffic mishap.

Austin incurred head injuries in the acident. Wellington fire department and Carbon County ambulance crews had to extract the injured man from the vehicle and transport the subject to Castleview Hospital.

Cooper confirmed that Ewer was issued a citation for failing to yield while making a left turn.
