According to Utah Highway Patrol Trooper Mark Cooper, both occupants of the Bronco were wearing seat restraints, while Austin was not. The airbag in the Nissan deployed when the collision occurred.
The two severely damaged vehicles had to be towed from the scene after the traffic mishap.
Austin incurred head injuries in the acident. Wellington fire department and Carbon County ambulance crews had to extract the injured man from the vehicle and transport the subject to Castleview Hospital.
Cooper confirmed that Ewer was issued a citation for failing to yield while making a left turn.
