Helper comes back to beat Arizona in regional opener
After facing deficits throughout Utah State Tournament play, the Helper American Legion Baseball team has made a habit out of winning via late game comebacks.
Things were no different for the team in their opening game against Tucson, Ariz., as they overcame a three run deficit and held on for a 10-9 win in Surprise, AZ, in Western Region Tournament play.
Trailing Arizona 5-2 heading into the sixth inning, the Helper offense started a seven run rally to take a 9-5 lead. Helper later added another run in the seventh.
Helper had to hold on despite a late Arizona rally to claim the victory.
With the win, Helper advances in the winner's bracket and will face off against Las Vegas, NV, on Friday at 5 p.m. in Surprise.
