Helper picked up yet another league win on July 10. The squad traveled to Olympus and closed out their rivals 10-0. Jarod Lessar tossed a dominating complete game shutout to pick up the decision, allowing only two hits.

"Jarod once again did a very nice job and we played good defense behind him," said Helper Head Coach Jeff Cisneros.

The Helper offense was a bit slow to get started, posting only a pair of runs on an RBI double by Derek Young and an RIB single by Ridge Neilson. Three more would come in the fifth however, via an RBI single by Dakota Cisneros and a two run scoring knock by Dylan Vogrinec.

Helper added four more in the seventh frame on a two run double by Mike Peczuh and a RBI single by Tyler Procarione.

"Overall, I thought we played a good game and we hung in and made some adjustments offensively later in the game," explained the coach.

The team tallied eight hits and was flawless on defense vs Olympus.

Following weekend All Star action, Helper won a nail bitter vs West Jordan 8-7. Brandon Oliver started the game but was knocked out by strong opposing batters after only two and a third innings. West Jordan scored one in the second inning and five more in the third. Cole Fossat came on in relief and gave up two more runs before getting Helper out of the inning.

"Brandon struggled a bit with control and was falling behind batters," explained Cisneros. "Cole settled in and did a nice job the rest of the game."

Taking their cues from a raucous crowd, Helper's bats came alive in the second frame as they scored four runs and added two more in the third to tie the game at six. The see-saw contest continued into the through the sixth inning as both teams scored again to knot the contest at seven.

Pitcher Cole Fossat walked to start the seventh frame and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Peczuh. Jarod Lessar then doubled to right center scoring Fossat for a walk-off 8-7 win. In addition to strong relief pitching, Fossat led the offensive attack with a double and a triple. Peczuh and Lessar each had double in the contest.

Helper totaled 11 hits as a team but also had eight errors, six being pass-balls that allowed West Jordan to score four of their runs.

"I thought we were very lazy in this game and allowed West Jordan to hang around, giving them confidence as the game progressed," commented Cisneros.

Despite some harsh words from the coach, Helper is now 12-1 in league play and 20-2 overall. The Helper win and a Cyprus loss put the Carbon County squad alone in first place with only two league games remaining. Helper plays Judge at home on Thursday and will finish the season with Olympus on Friday.

The league's All Star game will be hosted by Helper this year.

The contest will take place Saturday, July 20 at 7 p.m. Peczuh, Jaren McCourt, Vogrinec and Brando Oliver will all represent Helper in the game. Chris Smith and Steven Zamantakis will also play and will represent the Price American Legion team.
