Pinnacle Nursing and Rehab welcomes new director

Sun Advocate associate editor

Jason Jensen, a Brigham Young University graduate who has been in the health care industry since 2006, has come aboard as administrator and executive director at Pinnacle Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Price.

Jensen says he had originally wanted to be a dentist, but switched his major to community health with a certificate in gerontology. It was advice from a professor and a decision he has never regretted.

"You get to know the life stories of so many different people," he explains. Long-term health care for the elderly is, in his words, "payback for all the things they've done."

The other thing to consider is that when you are caring for someone for the long-term, "you are also affecting every family and the entire community," Jensen notes.

Long-term health care has been increasing its emphasis on rehabilitation over the years. It is a level of care that bridges the gap between the critical care of hospitals and assisted or indpendent living.

Stroke recovery, for instance, has made great progress, Jensen says.

When rehab residents "graduate," he adds, everybody celebrates with them.

Jensen is married to the former Mindy Gunderson, a Carbon County native.
