Fossat's no-hitter pushes Helper past Hunter in league play
After dropping a close game last week against Cyprus, the Helper American Legion baseball team wasted little time in getting back on track.
Cole Fossat threw a no-hitter as Helper shut down Hunter en route to a 12-0 mercy rule win in five innings on Friday evening.
Helper head coach Jeff Cisneros said Fossat was able to overpower the Hunter hitters through much of the game while the defense behind him made a handful of key plays to keep Hunter from collecting any hits.
Helper scored in every inning as Bryce Blackburn and Dakota Cisneros each had two hits and Derek Young added two triples and a double in the win. Helper finished with 12 hits in the game.
With the win, Helper is now 3-1 in league play. Helper hosted Hillcrest on Monday evening at home and will travel to Westlake on Wednesday evening for a game. Helper is preparing to host their annual tournament starting on Thursday evening through Sunday.
