PRICE - Ben Torres, age 87, passed away on June 17, 2013 while surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Sept. 1925 in Truchas, N.M. to Tomas and Domicilia Jaramillo Torres.
Married Bernie L. Montano on August 1945 in Aztec, N.M.
Ben served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for the Rio Grande Western Railroad for many years. He was a long-time member of Templo Betel Spanish Assembly of God Church and of the Trinity Christian Center.
Ben's pride and joy were his children and grandchildren in whom he instilled a passion for learning and hard work. He loved the outdoors, his passion was his gardens, flowers, trees and vegetables. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending many quality hours of fishing on streams and lakes, especially Huntington River and Scofield Reservoir. He always looked forward to his trips back to New Mexico to visit family.
Survived by his wife, Bernie of nearly 68 years; daughter, Patsy (Tony) Bueno, Herriman; son, Lennie (Dee) Torres, Pleasant View; six grandchildren, Anthony (Kari) Bueno, Melissa Hamilton, Lennie (Rose) Torres, Alicia (Tyler) Thiriot, Brenna and Ivan Torres and 15 great-grandchildren; five sisters, Silveria Rael, Santa Fe, N.M.; Simonita Herrera, Big Horn, Mont.; Emilia (Floyd) Vasquez; Amadita (Lee) Lucero; Josie (Mardo) Martinez, Albuquerque, N.M.; Sheila (Fred) Flowers, Roswell, N.M., as well as many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by parents, sister Trini and brother Joe.
Funeral service Friday, June 21, 2013, 10 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell's Thursday evening 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. Interment Mt. View Cemetery, Helper.
