Empty spot for empty plots

Recently cleared by local crews, this plot of land on the south side of Denver Avenue in East Carbon is the city's chosen spot for a new city cemetery. However, the building of said cemetery has been sent back to the drawing board as East Carbon officials recently balked at ballooning costs as well as the overall size of the proposed lot. According to town officials, when the cost of the cemetery rose to over $400,000 the city approached Jones and DeMille Engineering about downsizing the project's cost as well as its size. The council asked the firm develop a plan for building the cemetery in phases which would limit initial costs and open the area more quickly, allowing city residents to purchase burial plots. After the plots are purchased, the revenue would then be used to further the cemetery's growth.
