KEARNS - Elden Hix Blackburn, 86 years, died on June 8, 2013 surrounded by his family in Kearns.
He was born Nov. 8, 1926 in Castle Dale to Albert and Annie Marriee Blackburn. Elden married Charlotte Ann Conner on Aug. 24, 1946, in Daytona Beach, Fla.
He loved fishing and was an outdoor enthusiast. Elden was proud to serve in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In his younger years he worked for the Carbon County Coal Company for seven years and was a member of the United Mine Workers Union. Elden was a truck driver by profession and worked for Garrett/ANR Freightliners for 34 years. He joined the Teamsters Union #222 in 1955 and has been a member ever since. He also volunteered for 14 years at the Kearns Senior Center.
Elden is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, sons: Jim (Claudia), Elden Eugene (Joyce), Brent (Vonda); eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; sister, Darlene and numerous nieces and nephews.
A viewing was held Wednesday, June 12, 2013, 6 to 8 p.m. and again one hour prior to the service at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 South Redwood Road, West Jordan, Utah. Funeral services will be Thursday, June 13, 2013, 2 p.m. at Redwood Mortuary. Interment at Redwood Memorial Park.
