Accidental cliff fall claims life of Price woman
The body of a Price woman missing since early Sunday was discovered at the base of a 100-foot cliff on Wood Hill in the north section of town Tuesday.
Holly A. Martineau, 29, was apparently the victim of an accidental fall, according to Price Police Capt. William D. Barnes. Barnes said evidence at the scene indicated that the woman was alone when she walked to the edge of the cliff and apparently slipped on loose dirt, falling the full 100 feet to a boulder-strewn slope below.
He said that the body was found by a friend of the family who was part of a group that had been searching for the victim.
Martineau left a home in the Coves area she had been visiting shortly after midnight Sunday morning. She was thought to have gone for a walk on Wood Hill nearby. Police received a missing person report at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Barnes said.
After the body was discovered, Price Police officers, Carbon County Sheriff's deputies and a representative of State Medical Examiner's Office investigated. The Price City Fire Department Rescue Squad recovered the body, which was taken to the Medical Examiner's Office.
