Mine rescue teams compete in Price

Rescuers work quickly to assess the condition of a 'victim' discovered in a simulated mine accident Wednesday morning. The scenario is one of many tests during the annual Rocky Mountain Coal Mine Rescue Association competition held at Mont Harmon Junior High School. Teams from across the West travel to Price to see who's the best among the many well-trained groups and individuals. Although all the problems encountered are staged and the miners compete for awards, this is no game. Rescuers are the ones who go into a coal mine when all the other miners are being evacuated in an emergency.
