An honor guard of Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Marine Corps League members looks on as the dedication ceremony for the monument to veterans in Helper's cemetery gets under way on Memorial Day. Speakers at event paid tribute to the 402 deceased veterans whose names are inscribed on plaques. They also thanked the many sponsors who contributed to the construction of the granite structure and the paved viewing area. The monument has its own flag pole and a bench. More Memorial Day photos are on page 12A in the printed edition.
