Dinos finish 2013 season with plenty to remember
While the Carbon High baseball team finished the season on a tough note at the 2013 3A State Tournament, the season was still filled with plenty of memorable moments.
With a 16-9 record overall and a 6-4 mark in Region 12 play, the Dinos finished third in region play. They were placed in the Stansbury Regional and went on to defeat Juan Diego 6-5 in the first round before shutting out Dixie 5-0 to advance in the winners bracket.
Despite playing two close games at Utah Valley University last week, the Dinos came up short falling to Desert Hills 2-0 in their first game and coming up just short of rival Spanish Fork in a 7-6 loss to finish the season.
Over the course of the season, the Dinos have seen a number of memorable performances on the mound, at the plate and in the field on defense.
Here are a few of Carbon's biggest moments of the season:
March 13: Senior pitcher Dakota Cisneros threw a perfect game in an 11-0 win over South Sevier.
March 19: Down 3-1 to rival Emery High on the road, the Dinos score 10 runs in the top of the seventh inning to walk away with an 11-3 win.
April 5: Tied 5-5 with East in extra innings, senior Kayden Feichko hits a walk off double to give Carbon a 6-5 win.
April 11: Cisneros strikes out 13 batters while allowing one hit in a 5-0 win over Delta.
April 18: Jarod Lessar throws five innings of no-hit baseball as the Dinos dominate North Sanpete 14-0.
May 2: Feichko comes up big again for the Dinos in the seventh inning with another walk off hit against Juab in a 5-4 win.
May 11: Cole Fossat hit a 3-run home run to give Carbon an early lead and Derek Young came out of the bullpen and struck out two consecutive batters to secure a 6-5 win over Juan Diego.
May 11: Cisneros, Young Nick Rukavina combined to shut down the Dixie High offense in a 5-0 victory to win the Stansbury regional.
