Traffic delays in Spanish Fork Canyon

The Utah Department of Transportation began preventative maintenance work on U.S. Highway 6 in Spanish Fork Canyon Monday. Travelers should expect potential delays of up to 15 minutes between the Tucker Rest Area and Soldier Summit as temporary signal lights alternate drivers through a single-lane segment of the canyon.

The lane restriction is anticipated to remain in place weekdays through May 24. Flagging operations are expected after Memorial Day.

The seven-mile project on U.S. Highway 6 is aimed at preserving the transportation infrastructure while providing a smoother surface and improved safety.

Drivers are encouraged to exercise caution through the construction corridor. Fines for speeding and other moving violations are doubled in the work zone. Please obey posted speed limits.

Additional information is available by calling the project hotline at 1-800-292-3557, or by visiting the UDOT website at
