No help in Helper for users of ditch
The Helper City Council was unable to find a solution to the problem of the Bryner-Ploutz ditch a a special session Wednesday, but a work meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday evening.
At stake are water rights that have existed since the earliest years of the community, more than 20 years before Utah statehood and long before Helper became a city.
The ditch uses gutters along city streets on the west side of town to convey water to 31 connections of 26 shareholders. However, when the city's infrastructure improvements reach that part of the city, irrigation water would disappear down storm drains that will be installed.
