Single vehicle accident sends four to Castleview
A single vehicle accident along U.S. Highway 6 in Price Canyon north of Helper caused minor delays Thursday afternoon as public safety officers worked to stabilize and transport the car's four occupants.
Crews were dispatched to mile marker 227 just after 1 p.m. amid reports of a vehicle leaving the east bound lane, losing control and striking a large rock embedded in the canyon's hillside. The vehicle, a late model full size van, was hauling a utility trailer when it crossed the shoulder, careened through a culvert and collided with the canyon wall. Utah Highway Patrol troopers, Helper police, Helper Rescue 3, Carbon County Sheriff's deputies and Carbon County emergency medical technicians cleared two adults and two children from the van for transport to Castleview Hospital. Early indications point to minor injuries only.
Traffic was never stopped completely but only slowed as officers managed to direct motorists while public safety crews attended to the injured and cleared the scene. Check back for detailed information from the Utah Highway Patrol once it becomes available.
