On their last stop before the State Track and Field Meet at BYU next week, the Carbon High Dinos are hoping that a home field advantage is the difference in helping more athletes qualify for state.

Head coach Jimmy Jewkes said the Dinos will be looking to get as many athletes qualified for state at the meet, held on Wednesday afternoon and continuing today (May 9).

"We're looking to do as well as possible while gaining the experience going towards next year as well," said Jewkes.

At the BYU Invitational last weekend, Jewkes said a handful of CHS athletes stood out including senior Wyatt Hansen who cleared a high jump attmept of 6-feet-1-inches that was good enough to qualify him for the state meet.

Having the region meet at Carbon High can be a difference maker for the team, Jewkes said.

"It's a huge advantage for us," he said. "The kids are familiar with the track and they've trained and worked a lot in bas weather conditions before. So they're prepared for the meet."

The Thursday (May 9) portion of the region meet will continue at 12:30 p.m. at the Carbon High Track.
