PRICE - Our devoted wife, wonderful mother and grandmother, LaDona Richmond Rukavina, age 82, passed away peacefully at her home on April 22, 2013.
She was born Aug. 18, 1930 in Cortez, Colo., to Edgar and Edith Dalton Richmond. Married Joseph N. Rukavina on Feb. 18, 1951.
LaDona was a longtime resident of Carbon County and graduate of Carbon High School Class of 1948. She retired from Mountain Bell Telephone Company in 1982 where she worked for 30 years. After her retirement she took up residency at the Carbon County Golf Course where she spent many hours perfecting her game. LaDona was a great competitor and was able to achieve three 'Hole in One's, and many championships.
LaDona was a great horseman and was a member of the Star Riders Riding Club. She enjoyed taking pack trips into the Bookcliffs with her family. She played softball with Mitchell Mummies in 1949 and again thirty years later when the Mummies reorganized. She was also an accomplished bowler and in 2011 she was inducted into the C.E.U. Athletic Hall of Fame. She loved the outdoors and always marveled over the sunsets and sunrises. During her retirement she took up painting and painted many pictures. She always included her rendition of beautiful skies.
LaDona will be dearly missed by all her family and friends. We Love You Mom.

Survived by her husband, Joe Rukavina of Price; children Lynna (Lowell) Gray, Price, Joe Rukavina, Grand Junction, Colo., Jim (Lynnette) Rukavina, Price, Kaye (Jerry) Cripps, Price; 14 grandchildren and 26 greatgrandchildren.
Preceded in death by parents, daughter, Kathleen; brothers, Clyde and Cornielus Richmond; sister, Dorothy Pilling; and great-grandson, Brendon Young.
Funeral service, Thursday, April 25, 2013, 1 p.m. Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 - 8 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to service at Mitchell's. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price.
