Youth hunting shoot set for this weekend at North Springs
This weekend at North Springs Shooting Range, youth from around the state will be on hand to participate in the Youth Hunters Education Challenge.
Last year 80 kids under 18 participated in the Challenge and this year up to 120 could show.
The shooting education participation involves using a number of kinds of fire arms with the program beginning on Friday at 12:30 p.m. with registration at North Springs. Friday a group orientation will be held along with shooting events and there will be a dinner at the Carbon County Events Center at 5:30 p.m. That night at 8 p.m. a written exam will be given to particants.
The next morning there will be an opening flag ceremony at 7:45 a.m. and events will begin at 8 a.m. Lunch will be served at the shooting range from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
There will be an awards ceremony at the events center at 2 p.m.
Those interested in participating can register both on Friday (12:30 p.m.) and on Saturday (7 a.m.)
Proceeds from the meals sold both for the Friday night dinner and for the Saturday lunch will go to benefit the program. For those registered meal costs will be included in the registration fee.
The event is sponsored by the Utah Hunter Education Instructor's Association and the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources.
