The Carbon High Lady Dinos Softball team is hoping that a strong start in their Region 12 opener is an indication of things to come over the season.

The Lady Dinos defeated Juab 4-3 in their region opener in a game that saw the lead change hands four times in the middle innings.

Juab took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning. The Lady Dinos finally got on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning as they scored two runs to take a 2-1 lead.

Juab retook the lead in the top of the fifth inning scoring two runs to put the Lady Dinos behind 3-2.

Carbon High head coach Kirt Nunley said earlier this season that the offense needed to string together hits and keep rallies going. The Lady Dinos wasted no time in taking control of the game with two more runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 4-3 lead.

The team clamped down over the final two innings and held on for the Region 12 victory.

The Lady Dinos traveled to play against Richfield on Wednesday, April 3. The team will travel to North Sanpete on Monday, April 8 before returning home on Wednesday, April 10 to host Payson.
