to showcase new exhibit - Helper State Bank history
On April 5, in conjunction with Helper's First Friday events, the Western Mining and Railroad Museum will open a temporary exhibit showcasing objects and photos commemorating the Helper State Bank.
There will be an opening reception at the museum on Friday from 6 to 8:30 p.m.
Key Bank has donated items to the museum from the archives of the Helper Branch, which it operated until recently. This was the original site of the HSB.
The bank was started in 1910 by Joseph Barboglio. Barboglio was a prominent citizen of Helper, having served as town president in 1912 -13 and as mayor from 1913 - 14.
In addition to the Key Bank items, photos of the Helper State Bank and Joe Barbogio will be on display.
The exhibit will run for six weeks, closing on May 17.
