A partial collapse at the Rhino Mine in Huntington Canyon this afternoon has reportedly killed one miner and injured another.

According to a press release issued by the Emery County Sheriff's Office, the body of the second coal miner has been recovered by the mine's own rescue team. The deceased miner was identified as 28-year-old Elam Jones, of Huntington. Jones is the son of Huntington City Councilwoman Julie Jones.

The injured miner, Dallen McFarlane, originally from Cleveland, was transported to Castleview Hospital where he was treated and released.

The Emery County Sheriff's Office reported that Emery County dispatch received a call from the mine at 3:12 pm to report the incident. One of the two miners involved in the partial collapse was sent to Castleview Hospital in Carbon County. The other miner was, according to the earlier report, still trapped in the mine.

The press release also indicated that the investigation of the mine cave-in will be conducted by MSHA.
