Carbon Dino in running for Best Mascot in West
By KEVIN SCANNELL Sun Advocate reporter
Carbon High School will have to wait a few more days to see if the Dino is chosen as the best high school mascot in the western U.S.
USA Today High School Sports said the contest became so popular with people logging onto the site to vote, that many visitors were unable to vote or dealt with a slow response while on the voting page. Because of that, a statement on the website said the contest resumed on Monday, March 18 and will continue through Wednesday until 1 p.m. Mountain Time.
The winners will advance to the national voting portion where the best mascot would be crowned.
The Carbon High Dino lead the voting in Region 6 with 1,500,016 votes (40.023 percent) with the Oregon Episcopal Aardvarks trailing with 1,498,853 (39.992 percent) at press time.
As of 4 p.m. on Monday, the school was keeping the computer lab open until midnight for people to use the computers to vote.
