PRICE - Our beloved father, grandfather, craftsman and builder, Robert Lawrence Miller, age 86, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, March 2, 2013.
He was born July 20, 1926 in Price to Jay Benjamin and Martha Alta Brown Miller.
Bob honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy from 1944-1946. After returning from the service he attained his GED and attended CEU. While there, he obtained a machinist certificate and went to work for Hartman & Jensen. Bob spent many years working for US Steel at Horse Canyon and as a shop foreman at the Somerset Mine in Colorado. During these years, Bob designed and machined several parts that became a standard in the mining industry. Because of his vast knowledge and understanding with numbers, Bob was always finding news ways to improve the structural and mechanical designs of anything that he came in contact with.
On July 15, 1950, he married Clara Della Clingman in Elko, Nev., and together they worked side by side on numerous investment properties prior to her passing in 2012. During these years Bob was continually looking to expand his ventures and he enjoyed improving these projects while working alongside his family. Bob was a great visionary who could see the potential with any project at hand. Whether it be financial or political, Bob had the savvy and expertise to make any venture successful.
Bob was an avid horseman who was a longtime member of the Chuck Wagon Riding Club. He enjoyed spending time at his cabin in Scofield, fishing, gardening and playing chess with his grandchildren or anyone that was up to the challenge. Bob and Clara loved dogs, especially raising and breeding Cockers, Shar-Pei's and Old English Bulldogs.
