This is the scene that drivers on US-6 had to endure for more than two hours Saturday evening. A semi hauling a drill rig had rolled over near the Peerless Port of Entry in Price Canyon, blocking both lanes of traffic. The photo shows two of the three jams that resulted as traffic backed up for miles. On the right is the eastbound lane that follows the curve along the paved highway. The glow of tail lights on the left, just below the Carbon Plant, is another jam. It was caused by drivers who thought they could bypass the main road - and those who followed them because they were moving. The would-be escapees were taking a dirt road from the PRWID water plant that leads to US-6 further east. Unfortunately, that road does not lead past the rollover, so everyone - including fifth wheels, horse trailers and motorhomes - was bottled up. The third long line, not visible in this photo, was on the Helper side of the rollover.
