Trails committee to meet Thursday

Theare Carbon County Trails Committee will meet at noon today at the Carbon County Events Center meeting room.

The main focus of the committee is to map all available trails in the county and work towards creating new trails. These trails will be multi-use trails.

The committee hopes to accomplish a couple of items including to educate the community about what the committee is doing (at the last commission meeting a formal name for the trail was approved) and also to help get the word out that when the Bureau of Land Management puts up a sign saying an area is designated for OHV or other trail uses, that the signs be left up.

The BLM is working with the committee to open and mark existing trails. But as they go throughout the county and post the signs, those signs have been removed when they return to that area.

A number of important issues will be on the agenda for the meeting including the Helper Trail System and a clean up on Wood Hill.
