Helper First Friday will feature writer's roundtable
As part of Downtown Helper's First Friday event on March 1, the Happiness Within coffeeshop will host a writer's roundtable from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
It will be an opportunity meet local authors, get a copy of your favorite book signed, and listen to them give readings from their works.
Authors include Tom McCourt, Craig Royce, Bill Betenson, Michael Kelsey, Al Carlisle, JB Mounteer, and Nancy Takacs.
Tom McCourt has written extensively about the history of Eastern Utah as well as his life. His books include The Split Sky: A Journey of Discovery in Utah's Nine MileCanyon; and White Canyon: Remembering the Little Town at the Bottom of Lake Powell.
Craig Evan Royce's most recent book Uranium Seekers: A photo-essay Tribute to
Miners, is a chronicle of the stalwart and magical people who came west, with pick axes and mules, looking to pull a life from the land.
Bill Betenson grew up hearing stories of his famous great uncle from family members who knew him. Bill's book is entitled Butch Cassidy, My Uncle.
Michael Kelsey has published many guidebooks. Some of his guidebooks focused on the Colorado Plateau include Hiking and Exploring Utah's San Rafael Swell and Non-Technical Canyon Hiking Guide to the Colorado Plateau.
Dr. Al Carlisle was a psychologist at the Utah State Prison. The first novel in the
Development of the Violent Mind series, I'm Not Guilty, is a hypothetical conversation
between Dr. Carlisle and the notorious serial killer, Ted Bundy on the day before his
JB Mounteer is known throughout the world for writing children's books. His latest book is entitled I Think My Brother is a Werewolf.
Nancy Takacs lives in Wellington and is the author of the poetry books Pale Blue Wings,Wild Animals, Preserves and Juniper .
