PRICE/EAST CARBON - It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Mary O'Brien on Feb. 2, 2013.
She was born in Burlington, Iowa on March 23, 1917 to Stella Kasonavich and William Vinovich. She was raised by her mother and step-father Louis Marvosh.
Married Joe O'Brien on May 6, 1939 in Price. He was the love of her life. She and Joe moved from Standardville to Dragerton in 1948.
After Joe's retirement they loved to travel. One of their favorite trips was to Ireland.
In 1994 they moved to Price, where Joe passed away May 14, 1995. Shortly after his death Mary moved into the Heirloom Inn until October 2012, at which time she moved to Sandy Health to be closer to her family.
Mary belonged to the Price Ladies of Elk's and Naomi Chapter # 13 Order of the Eastern Star where she held an office many years.
The greatest joys in her life were her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her son Scott (Karen) O'Brien, South Jordan; granddaughter, Cori (Nolan) Skiby, West Jordan; grandson, Michael O'Brien, Salt Lake City; two great-grandsons, Cy and Cole Skiby, West Jordan.
Preceded in death by husband Joe, daughter Pat and infant sons, Walter and Keith, parents, siblings Dorothy, Sophie, Annie, Joe, Pete and Sam.
Words cannot express our thanks to Shauna O'Brien and the entire staff of the Heirloom Inn for the love and care given to our Mom while she lived there.
Funeral service Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, 11 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will be at Mitchell's Tuesday evening from 6 - 7 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to services. Interment Price City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Primary Children's Hospital, P.O. Box 58249, Salt Lake City, Utah 84158 in Mary's name. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are welcome daily and may share memories of Mary online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
