She was born May 15, 1930 in Frackville, Penn., to Frank and Lottie Lech Kurowski.
Ellie joined the Army WACS, serving as a Sergeant in Korea from April of 1950 until April of 1953. After returning from the service, she married George S. Zamantakis on May 24, 1953 in Price at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church.
Ellie was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to knit and crochet beautiful sweaters, afghans, tablecloths and has left her legacy to all her children, grandchildren and special friends. She lovingly gave all she had and could to her family. She taught all of her family the meaning of love.
Many people have enjoyed meals at her counter for years. Although Ellie was not Greek by blood she made it her mission to learn the Greek delicacies and food for her loving husband and served him well. Everyone always came before her needs. She has left a hole in our hearts, but she is finally free of pain and suffering. "May Her Memory Be Eternal."
Ellie is survived by her loving husband, George S. Zamantakis; her son, Steve (Heidi) Zamantakis, Helper, daughters, Irene Zamantakis, Price, Georgeann (John) Anderson, Sandy, Lisa (Buff) Critchlow, Price; grandchildren, Zoey, Steve and Grace Zamantakis, Kassie (Mike) Esplin, Tawny (Cully) Shurtliff, Desiree and Kaylie Anderson, Greg and Jennifer Morrison, Nick and Josh Critchlow; seven great-grandchildren and one on the way she has now met.
Preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Ed and Frank Kurowski.
