Lady Dinos continue hot start in Region 12 play with wins over Juab, North Sanpete

The Lady Dinos are picking up exactly where last year's team left off in Region 12 play.

After finishing last season with a 7-1 record in Region 12 play, the 2012-13 Carbon High Lady Dinos' Basketball team is already off to a fast start in Region 12 play.

The Lady Dinos picked up their third region win of the season by defeating Juab 45-27 at home last week. Junior Shelby Cornforth led the team with 15 points on a perfect shooting night (4-of-4 FGs and 7-of-7 FTs).

The Lady Dinos followed up that win by traveling to North Sanpete two days later by posting a 56-41 win. The team started slow in the first half heading into halftime down 23-11. But the Lady Dinos kicked things into high gear in the second half as they outscored North Sanpete 45-18 over the final 16 minutes of the game.

Cornforth led the scoring attack with 17 points. Sophomore Katie Basinger and senior Ashley Quinton each added 10 points in the win.

The Lady Dinos are currently 11-4 overall and 4-0 in Region 12.

The team will return home tonight to host fellow Region 12 leader Delta High at 7 p.m. at the Carbon High gymnasium.
