HELPER - Wilma Lorene Donelson Edmondson, age 89, passed away Jan. 4, 2013 at Castleview Hospital in Price.

She was born Aug. 9, 1923 in Harrisburg, Ill., to Clyde L. and Clyda M. Read Donelson.

Married Henry E. Edmondson, Nov. 3, 1940 in Cape Girardeau, Mo. Henry preceded Wilma in death on March 12, 2003.

Wilma was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars while her husband served the organization in many offices. They were tireless when it came to the VFW. She was a hard worker beginning by being a waitress at the age of 13 in Southern Illinois. She continued to teach her work ethics to her family and co-workers working at Jeanselme's Café, Greenwell/Ricardo's Café and the Arrow Club, which she owned with her husband.

Wilma worked and served local patrons until forced to retire just shy of 80 years old due to illness. She truly lived by her motto "hard work never hurt anyone". While working she managed to take wonderful care of her family and home. We shall miss her good southern cooking and homemade pies. One of her last wishes was to be able to work again.

Wilma's family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the entire staff at Parkdale Care Center for the loving care and companionship they gave to her over the past few years. Also a thank you to the entire staff at Castleview Hospital and Dr. Shane Gagon for the excellent care they gave to her during her last days. We shall always be grateful for all the kindness offered to her.

Wilma is survived by her daughters, Deloris Markakis, Price, Karla (Darwin) Jones, Helper; brother, Dwayne (Bonnie) Donelson, Indianapolis, Ind., sister, Dorothy Hackworth, Haubstadt, Ind; sister-in-law, Marie Harrison, Marion, Ill., brother-in-law, Jerral (Thelma) Edmondson, Marion, Ill; her beloved grandchildren, Melissa (Casey) Hammack, Price, Amy (Doug) Olson, Price, Matthew (Amy) Markakis, Grand Junction, Colo., Kennedy and Carson Byrd, both of Salt Lake City; great-grandchildren, Madison, Isabella, Levi and Julia Markakis, all of Grand Junction, Colo. Also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and a community of friends.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son Lester; infant brother and sister, brother, Roy and Pauline Donelson; sons-in-law, Alex Markakis and Roger Byrd; brothers-in-law, Jerry Hackworth and Al Harris; in-laws, Lum and Mary Edmondson; and nephew Jason Hackworth.

View Cemetery, Helper. Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are welcome daily and may share memories of Wilma at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
