GREEN RIVER - Mathilda Elizabeth Reynolds Smith passed away peacefully in her bed at home on Dec. 26, 2012 at the age of 98.

She was born July 20, 1914 in Mt. Pleasant where she was the last of 12 siblings born to Asa Fletcher and Augusta Alfreda Matson Reynolds.

On Dec. 20, 1933 she married Wayne G. Smith in the Manti Temple. After moving to Green River, Betty was fortunate enough to ranch alongside her beloved husband for 62 years before his passing on Nov. 9, 1996. Together they tended many livestock and raised a wonderful family that will carry on her legacy.

"Granny" was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many capacities. She was an active member of the Green River Community and a loyal supporter of the Pirates. Whether it was a special sporting event, birthday or get together, Granny was the center of attention.

Her warm and generous personality delighted the hearts of all, and her clever handiwork could brighten anyone's day. Whether she was crocheting, making flower pens, diamond pins or making folded dollar bill shirts, Granny seemed to have a knick-knack that could be enjoyed for generations. Everyone she ever came across with has one of her many handmade heartfelt treasures. She was loved by all and a light and inspiration to everyone she met.

"Robert promises that he will bring a shovel for his last visit with her".
